Last weekend, Randy and I decided to begin (reluctantly) a boat project. We started off Saturday morning sanding all of the exterior wood on our boat. This is not a complete refinish (we’re not retired!), just a few maintenance coats that we’ll finally be done with tomorrow a.m. (hopefully). More on that later.
Saturday evening, I was invited to the 2nd annual (we hope) girls’ tamale rolling night. A bunch of us ladies, brought our drinks over to Mary Kay’s (OMG how we love her and her cooking!) boat to roll tamales on her top deck. We made 4 different types of tamales: pork, chicken, veggie and a sweet corn tamale that was out of this world! Once the drinks were drank and the tamales rolled, we made plans to meet at the pool for the party.
Sunday, we all met up at the pool and brought drinks, appetizers and other food. Mary Kay steamed the tamales while the kids swam. We even had a piñata for the kids to swing at after dinner. Corey and Maddie each tried to swing at the piñata blindfolded, but we need the power of Claudia’s son, Gabriel to crack it open. A week later, we STILL have candy :). Needless to say, we all left stuffed and toting ziplock bags of leftover tamales for the next night.
Last time we did this was 2 years ago (March of 2013) and my parents were staying a couple of nights at Snook Bight on their trawler, Island Time. It was in March and little cooler out but it’s been an awesome time both time’s we’ve done it. We feel so fortunate to live in a marina with great friends.
Nice photos, I almost feel like I was there!
