This past weekend was Shrimp Fest on Fort Myers Beach. For two days the island gets bombarded with folks who come for the parade and festivities. Last year we attended the parade which was earlier in the day. This year, the plan was to go down to Times Square (where the arts and crafts booths and food are located) in the afternoon. Since traffic is crazy on the beach this time of year, we decided to take the dinghy and go by water. Capt. Tom was working that day, so Mary Kay and Maddie also joined us for the ride there with plans to meet Tom later.
We had a nice dinghy ride there and tied up at the Matanzas dinghy dock. Once there, we went our separate ways to shop and for the boys to get shrimp and we planned to meet up later. There were alot of arts and crafts booths and I found a few things to buy. I bought Sophie a handmade dog collar (red leopard print) from one vendor and bought a pair of sea turtle earrings with a blue stone called Larimar (had to buy them!) from a booth called Colors of the Sea. After shopping we met up at La Ola restaurant in Times Square where Capt. Tom met up with us. After some tacos and margaritas we headed back to the dinghy dock for the ride home.
Looks like another fine adventure! The photos bring your narrative alive. Also, thanks for the link on the Laimar. Of course you had to have those ear rings.
