With our trawler on the hard, Randy and I are staying at his father’s house in the Estero/Bonita Springs area. This means that we are close to the Weeks Fish Camp launch near the Hyatt Coconut Point. This has always been one of our favorite spots to launch our kayaks because it takes us into Estero Bay which is a gorgeous estuary of birds, fish and other wildlife. Since we didn’t have Randy’s son and it was just the two of us, we planned to spend a whole day paddling and enjoying ourselves. We also decided to go on a much longer paddle leaving out of Weeks and paddling across the bay to Lover’s Key. Once in the Lover’s Key area, Randy fished while I stalked birds with my camera. A little after noon, we decided our arms needed a break and we paddled over to Flippers On The Bay for some lunch and rumrunners. Flippers is a small outdoor bar and grill that is part of the Lover’s Key Resort and it overlooks the water. After lunch, we slowly made our way back to Weeks taking breaks to fish and relax. We had so much fun, the day just flew by!
