Things have been quiet around here since returning from our Dry Tortugas/Key West trip at the end of July. The months of August and September have us hibernating around here because it’s so hot. Still, we will usually get off the dock once or twice for a quick weekend trip somewhere where we spend most the day in the water. Earlier this year I had surgery on my left foot to fix a bunion and I decided to have the right foot done in August. I figured if I was going to be laid up for 4 week it might as well be in one of the hottest months. This of course limited us from going anywhere on Blue Turtle since when we’re out on hook we’re usually in the water all day to keep cool. Since I wasn’t able to swim and our water quality has been so bad lately, we’ve stayed on the dock. Needless to say, we are climbing the walls on Blue Turtle and itching to go somewhere. Next weekend is PirateFest here on Fort Myers Beach and we are hoping to anchor near Matanzas bridge again to partake in the festivities. We can’t wait for our next trip off the dock, even if it is only a short distance away.
