On Friday, March 14, 2014, a group of folks and boats from our marina dropped the lines and headed to Glovers Bight on the Caloosahatchee River near Tarpon Point Marina and The Westin Cape Coral. There was a jazz concert being held at the Westin called Sounds of Jazz & Blues presented by the Cape Coral Parks & Recreation Department. We decided it would be fun to take our boats there and raft up to listen to the music. It was quite a party! We had five boats rafter together including M/V Mer Soleil, M/V Eufloria, M/V Bon Foeyage and S/V Sojourn. Other boats from the marina there were S/V Forever Young, S/V Anejo, M/V What’s Next? and M/V Blue Turtle.
We were the last boat to arrive (those pesky jobs!) and we rafted up with Canadian friends Rick and Debra on What’s Next?. Once rafted up, Randy and Corey had to put the newly-fixed dinghy prop on. We spun the prop last weekend trying to get on plane going to Big Carlos. Once the the dinghy was ready, we dropped it in the water and headed over to the large flotilla.
We had a wonderful party with good food, beverages and friends and we celebrated Kathleen’s birthday with cake. The concert was underway, but we were a little too far to hear it clearly. A few folks got in their dinghies and headed in a little closer. Once we were partied out, we headed back to Blue Turtle for a movie. Rick and Debra joined us for a viewing of one of our favorites, “Captain Ron”. The party continued for the folks on the large flotilla.
The next morning, Randy took Corey for a dinghy ride and when they returned, we decided to head to Merwin Key with Mary Kay and Tom. We figured Corey and Maddie would have more to do there since we could ding over to Picnic Island. To be continued…
Nice time for everyone! Thanks for the detailed narrative and photos.
