Blue Turtle Cruising

Weekend at Tween Waters Marina

IMG_9598We love Tween Waters Inn and Marina. What’s not to love about beautiful Captiva Island and staying at a resort and marina with the beach across the street, access to the pool and grill and several great restaurants? This past Friday, Randy, Corey, Sophie and I headed to Captiva Island for a fun-filled weekend. Randy had a client who was in town and staying at the South Seas Resort on Captiva with his family who he wanted to connect with over dinner.  On Friday evening, we got to meet Kevin, his wife Angie, his son, Ashton and friend, Harry at The Green Flash. Ashton and Harry are around the same age as Corey (9-10ish) so they seemed to hit it off right away.  We started off with a round of the well-known Roger-rita’s, a Green Flash specialty, and had a wonderful dinner (the blackened Mahi was excellent!). Following dinner, we headed to the Mucky Duck for a drink and sunset. The boys were off and running all over the beach and as usual, we couldn’t keep Corey out of the water (even though he was clothed head to toe in his school uniform). Once the sun had set, Kevin offered us a ride back to the marina where we invited him and family aboard the Blue Turtle for a tour. We had a great time and even broke out the ukuleles and Corey’s small guitar for a jam session.

Saturday morning, Randy took Corey across the street to surf/boogie board/skim board on the beach while I slept in. I met the boys at the pool around 11am and there we stayed for a totally lazy day by the pool. Just can’t beat a gorgeous resort pool with a bar and grill and wait staff that efficiently brings you rum runners ๐Ÿ™‚  Randy and I reflected on the previous evening and agreed that we had a great time with Kevin and his family and it was cool that the boys were of around the same age and seemed to get along. We invited them out for dinner again Saturday evening and went to the Key Lime Bistro for excellent entertainment and food.

Sunday morning, it was time to start thinking about heading home. Randy took Corey across to the beach again for a quick surf session before we got ready to leave. By then, the marina was beginning to empty after being filled with sailboats all weekend as part of a sailing club. We had a nice cruise home and were already planning our next trip.
