All has been quiet on Blue Turtle since we returned from our Dry Tortugas and Keys trip. So, what have we been up to for the month of August? Well, mostly getting back into the work and school routine. Weekends continue to be mostly aquatic, either going to the beach or the marina pool. My sister and nephews stayed with us over Labor Day weekend which was fun and a couple weekends before that, we went on a surf trip.
Randy, Corey and I joined by Rob (Randy’s friend) and his son, Reef piled into Randy’s truck one Friday afternoon and headed to Cocoa Beach, Florida in search of some waves. I don’t surf. I’ve tried a few times and maybe got up once, but I joined the guys anyway just to get out of town and relax with my boys. Corey has been itching to get over to the East coast of Florida for some time. The waves are usually bigger and cleaner over there. The weekend we went, the forecast was for medium to small sized waves, but clean (not windblown). I really don’t know much about good surfing weather, but the boys were psyched. The waves ended up being a lot smaller than hoped for, but they were perfect for Corey and Reef and beginners (like me).
Overall, we had a great weekend, surfing, relaxing by the pool and enjoying the company of good friends.
