Blue Turtle Cruising

Blue Turtle, our 44′ CSY, is sold… what’s next for our crew?

Once the boat was docked at Brunswick Landing, we packed a few things and headed south to Lake City, FL, where we stayed with friends for a couple of weeks. While we were there, we received an inquiry about Blue Turtle from a potential new owner. After a quick phone call with them, we planned to head back north to Brunswick where we could show her. After showing her, we received an offer a few days later which we accepted. We were thrilled to have the boat under contract but what was more appealing was that the new owners would be cruising her full time and taking her on new adventures. Yay! With the holidays fast approaching, it was difficult to line up the survey an haul out, so we had to wait until after Christmas. While waiting for the survey, the new owner was able to complete a separate rigging inspection as well. Finally, in mid-to-late January, we closed on the boat. Kevin and Joy would be the new owners of Blue Turtle.

We are so stoked about the upgrades and improvements Kevin has planned for Blue Turtle. He and his wife have plans on taking her to the Bahamas and even further south, which is what this sailboat loves. She’s been in those southern waters many years before and its exciting to see her getting to go back there. I believe once again, the name Blue Turtle will remain as the new owners have decided to keep it. It’s going to be such a thrilling thing to watch her go on many new adventures with her new owners. Kevin and Joy also have a blog, Wandering on the Way, so please check it out to follow their journey.

So, what’s next?

One chapter closes, but another one begins. After almost 13 years living aboard a boat (trawler/sailboat) our crew is ready for some land time. But ordinary land life just won’t do for us. We love to explore and move. We love that constantly changing view. We’re going mobile, of course! We’re currently in the process of closing on an RV where we’ll be able to continue chasing that life long dream of exploring new territory and hiking all new trails! This in no way means we are done with life on the water. Actually, we already have our “forever” boat picked out but decided it was a good time to take a break before going down that road. Stay tuned for more to come as we embark on yet another adventure!

  1. Congratulations on the sale of your boat. We are on our catamaran in Islamorada Fl in winter and in Blue Ridge Falls Campground in summer at Lake Toxaway NC , the land of waterfalls and hiking trails. If you’re in the area, please come see us.
You can now go 60 MPH straight into the wind.

  2. Shame your RV adventure begins just as the national parks are being shut down. I have a senior free park pass and can’t use it now.
Join Harvest Host and check them out? It’s getting crowded out there!

    Good luck and have fun!
